Khong Jiam is a little gem of a town, located at the meeting point of the Moon and Mekong rivers. It's located about 50 minutes drive from Ubon.
The town is rarely visited by farangs but does get buses from Ubon and Bangkok with Thais visiting. The nearby Pha Taem National Park has ancient rock art, weird rock formations and is worth the entry fee of 200 baht unlike many other Thai parks.
You can also charter a longboat for half a day and visit a Laos village over the Mekong and swim at some rock pools near the meeting point with the Moon river.
The town is a great place to relax for 3 or 4 days.
